Avengers: Endgame introduced us to a whole plethora of classic marvel comic book tropes and potential future directions of the MCU! Through the reality warping effects of the Infinity Gauntlet, the use of time travel through the Quantum Realm, and the mentions of a multiverse, the MCU is setting up for its next big antagonist. Could this villain be none other than an alternate version of our favorite big green superhero, the Hulk?

If you have yet to see Avengers: Endgame, BE WARNED. This video is spoiler heavy!

In the film, Bruce Banner successfully merged both himself and the Hulk as a single being. With the scientific intelligence of Banner and the incredible bodily strength of the Hulk, ‘Professor Hulk’ was born. He was tasked with the responsibility of reverting the damage done to half of the universe by The Mad Titan Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. This is made possible by performing a “reverse-snap” with the Avenger’s version of the infinity gauntlet that he and Tony Stark developed once they realized time travel was a thing. However, performing this reverse-snap caused Professor Hulk to permanently lose his right arm. Furthermore, despite trying his best to bring back his long-time love interest Black Widow, he was unable to do so as her death was linked to the soul stone. Despite the Avengers winning at the end, Bruce suffered huge losses that weighed heavily on his shoulders.

As the timelines begin to diverge, could there be the possibility that an alternate version of the Hulk known as ‘The Maestro” will be introduced? This version of the Hulk comes from an alternate nuclear post-apocalyptic future where all of Earth’s heroes were wiped out along with most of its human inhabitants. Hulk survived and grew much more powerful as he absorbed all the nuclear radiation. This, paired alongside decades of resentment towards the world led the Hulk to go insane while still retaining Bruce Banner’s intellect, which created the Maestro. In the comics, he was ultimately defeated by a Professor Hulk who was brought through time travel to his timeline and end his rule.

If there is one thing Avengers: Endgame taught us, it’s that time should not be messed with (unless if you are Doctor Strange). Could the next phase of Marvel movies hit us all with an ‘out of this world’ Uno reverse card where in which the Maestro ends up in the main MCU continuity? Watch the rest of the video to find out!
