While we just can’t wait to see The Lion King… again, let’s talk about the 25 things you may have missed in your first (or second or third viewing) of the live action remake. Sure, many shots are mirror images of what we saw in the original 1994 film, but there are many additional touches, flourishes and nods that might be overlooked by certain viewers. Of course, the biggest change of all is the fact that this film is live action – but you might be surprised to learn that all but one shot in the movie is animated with photorealistic computer technology.

Other you may have missed include updated details surrounding Mufasa’s death, and the fact that several songs either cut from the original version or made for the Broadway musical, like “He Lives In You,” have found their way into the 2019 film. Songs like: “Spirit” and “The Morning Report” debut in this brand new telling of the Circle of Life. Plus, there are new lyrics to be found in “Hakuna Matata” and “Be Prepared.” Also, watch this video to learn how the stars reacted to the British Royals at the premiere. Other changes between versions of the story include Scar’s aggressive proposal to Sarabi, the stronger characterization of Shenzi, Rafiki’s subdued portrayal, Scar and Zazu’s adjusted dynamic, and less subdued gas-passing. If you pay attention to the credits, you also might catch two actors in the latest film who also appeared in the Broadway show. Disney loves to fill their movies with extra details and The Lion King of 2019 is no different. Join ScreenRant as we journey to the serengeti and feel all the love surrounding this flick.
