The Hotel Transylvania franchise has been a mega-hit for Sony Animation Studios, churning out three movies and a television show. Despite being developed and produced by Sony, the movies have plenty of references to other films and studios. Besides the obvious connections to the Universal Monster movies, the movies have plenty of tie-ins to Disney movies as well! From voice actors to direct references, check out some of these crazy Disney secrets we were able to dig up from dracula’s grave!

For example — Even the animated world is filled with epic and iconic couples. There’s Aladdin and Jasmine. Belle and the Beast. Shrek and Fiona. Hiccup and Astrid. Jack and Sally. In the first Hotel Transylvania, the filmmakers started building the love story to another great couple — Johnny and Mavis. We’ve seen them connect, have a child, and grow even closer through each of the three movies. To showcase their love, the movies have presented the idea of the “Zing” and we even got a whole song about it. In the first verse of the song “You’re My Zing” — Johnny — voiced by Andy Samberg, goes on to compare their love to each other in a plethora of ways — one of them being a direct reference to the Lion King.
