With new game releases, gamers are eager to see what each game has in store for them when it comes to gameplay. Some gamers even go as far as anxiously awaiting Let’s Plays and walkthroughs in order to experience every aspect of a gamer prior to purchasing it for themselves. This allows gamers to see whether or not a particular game will hold their interest or be worth their hard earned money. For the most part, games are typically the same outside of mods that allow players to customize certain aspects of the game such as their characters.
Most players would not expect any game to look different from another game of the same title especially since developers put a lot of time into ensuring that the game not only looks amazing, but plays smoothly as well. If a player were to pick up two copies of a game, it would be reasonable for them to expect that both games are identical when it comes to gameplay.
However, this is not always the case. The appearance and names of video games can vary from country to country. Censorship typically has everything to do with causing video games to look different in certain countries. Instead of outright banning a certain video game for content that is questionable to a country’s moral standards, these video games have undergone some minor changes in order to make them more palatable to the countries they’re being released in. If a gamer has run into a game that looks wildly different from the game they’re used to, chances are it was censored for release in another country.
