One of the greatest achievements in Hollywood is winning an Academy Award. But for some actors and actresses, the golden Oscar statue has felt more like a curse, sinking their career, and sending them down a path of limited movie choices, straight-to-video blunders, or just a disappearance into obscurity. All it took was a great line to send Cuba Gooding Jr. into the Oscar-winning stratosphere as millions of people were screaming “Show me the money!” when Gooding Jr. took home the Academy Award for Jerry Maguire back in 1997. Well, Hollywood showed him a ton of money, and quickly took it all away. Following the win, Gooding booked big-budget projects like Pearl Harbor and Men of Honor, but the star quickly fell. Mo’Nique rise to fame didn’t seem to be on the path of the Academy Awards. She started out on several UPN sitcoms like Moesha and The Parkers before landing numerous comedy films like Phat Girls & Welcome Home Roscoe Jinkens. Her talk show “The Mo’Nique Show” premiered in 2009, the same year she took on the dramatic role of Mary Lee Johnston for the film “Precious”. Watch to see what other actors made the list and how their careers went from hero to zero!

The Oscar Curse probably feels real for some of these stars who turned their Academy Award wins into Golden Raspberry awards, 0% percent scores on Rotten Tomatoes, and movie roles like “Vengeance: A Love Story”. Find out who some of these actors are as you think to yourself, “Oh yeah…what have they been in lately?”.
