Censorship is a real hot button issue in the video game world right now. When developers are forced to alter the games to better suit the needs of the consumers in the video game industry, some gamers treat it as if it is the end of the world. That being said, the alternative of irritating a large portion of the population would probably be much worse. They say no publicity is bad publicity, but believe us, no developer wants to be known for making that one racy game which ruined the company. All around the world, video games have been pulled from store shelves because for one reason or another, they were just too much for the community to handle.

The issue of censorship is often brought up when we talk about video game violence. Ever since the release of Doom in 1993, parents and politicians have been putting the blame on video games for corrupting the youth. While this has been proven in multiple studies to not be a significant cause for aggression, whether the censorship is justified isn’t for us at TheGamer to say. If we’re being honest though, most of the censorship we see in video games in unnecessary. It is important to examine the games which got banned and see what irked these protesters so badly whether it’s intense violence, lewd content or coarse language.
