As Kirk McKeand, the editor-in-chief at TheGamer, shows us, gaming and controversy just go hand in hand. Kirk got to look into the goings-on at one of the biggest Polish video game developers. In Poland, if you want to work for a AAA video game developer, it’s either CD Projekt Red or Techland. CDPR are known for their Witcher series and the mess that was Cyberpunk 2077 while Techland are known for their Dying Light series. It wasn’t until 2011 with the release of Dead Island that Techland would become a known commodity in the gaming industry.
The company quickly began spiralling downwards once development of Dying Light 2 began. Many members of the staff made some comments that were in poor taste when asked about the game, which led to negative press for the company that was completely warranted. CEO Paweł Marchewka is mainly responsible for Techland’s unorthodox work environment that doesn’t seem to respect boundaries and doesn’t seem to fit into the modern world. Questionable hiring decisions, unrealistic deadlines, radical brainstorming ideas, hypocrisy, you name it. Whatever the issue is, it’s never Marchewka’s fault when anything goes wrong at the company. There’s a creativity-killing vibe in Techland, but also a clear solution: get rid of the bad apples.

On this episode of The Cooking Show Farideh makes Pizza Piena, also known as Pizza Rustica, Pizza Gain, or Pizza Chiena. This savory pie is typically eaten for Easter in Italy, as it’s loaded with three different cheeses and four types of meat, two foods that are often given up for Lent. Farideh starts by making her own dough with eggs and lard, before forming the pie and layering in mozzarella, ricotta, parmesan, ham, salami, and pepperoni. Chef Niven Patel from Ghee Indian Kitchen in Miami is in his backyard cooking a Roasted Carrot Chaat. Inspired by Indian street food, this dish is a flavorful combination of different textures and spices. Niven starts with picking some fresh heirloom carrots from his backyard garden, before roasting them in a wood fired oven with salt and olive oil. He then works on the other elements of the dish: a cilantro chutney, cumin yogurt sauce, and crispy chickpea noodles. He brings it all together with chopped tomatoes and onion, tossing in the roasted carrots and topping it with the two sauces. He adds pomegranate seeds and herbs to finish off the dish, resulting in a bold and bright plate that’s filled with homegrown veggies.
