There have been many animated franchises that have made big money over the years. Toy Story, How To Train Your Dragon, Frozen, The Lego Movie, Kung Fu Panda, Shrek and Despicable Me are all huuuuge money makers. One of the other top ten franchises is riding off into the sunset. The franchise about Dracula planning a hotel for monsters while raising his daughter Mavis and dealing with her love Johnny is a hilarious series that has made millions of dollars. It just dropped its latest and final entry on Amazon Prime that saw Dracula and the other monsters becoming human while Johnny becomes a giant dragon. It’s a hilarious movie but also sad since it’s the end of the ride.
So what are the stories behind the scenes of this beloved series? Well, the series stars big time actors like Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Steve Buscemi, Selena Gomez, David Spade and Jon Lovitz. Only for the fourth entry in the film series, two of these cast members are missing. Then there’s the franchise’s creator, behind huge hits like Dexter’s Labratory, The Powerpuff Girls and Samurai Jack who also left the last movie behind him. The film also calls back to the famous monsters and their histories. This includes the original Bram Stoker Dracula novel and his real life counterpart Vlad the Third. Funnily enough, neither built a hotel. That I know of.
