Video games are one of the fastest growing entertainment products in human history. In just under 50 years, they have taken over popular culture and are now a multi-billion dollar industry. Video games themselves have changed drastically. We went from big arcade cabinets to home consoles to having mobile games be on our phones. We have even entered a new age of virtual reality. In it’s history, video games have gotten a bad rep being blamed for school shootings, violent tendencies and more. They have played the scapegoat for the uninformed majority, but recently games have done a lot of good.

Video games have a multitude of applications now from education to research and development. Video games have even helped save lives which is what we will be looking at today. Whether it is saving a life from half a world away or using what you know in video games, we will be looking at the times that the power of video games have saved actual human lives. Video games have been disappointing us for as long as we can remember. We’re still wondering how we keep being convinced otherwise. Anyone who went through the Candy Crush Saga addiction knows it’s probably not worth the time (or money) you wasted. After all, you don’t even get a real ending or any kind of reward for beating the game. The Wii Fit was a game which attempted to make exercise fun, but nothing can make it fun…not even video games. The Simpsons Road Rage reminds us of our childhood, but it also reminds us of where EA started making bad games just to make money. Shame on you EA and shame on us for buying it just because they stamped the Simpsons on the cover.

Oh, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was wrong in so many ways. It was boring and we’re still trying to figure out why they wanted to make it futuristic. Just leave the space exploration for Jason X. Mario and Sonic go to the Olympics had us hoping for so much more. What could go wrong with two of Nintendo’s most popular characters? Apparently, everything. We had such high hopes for Star Wars Battlefront, but then EA made up the excuse the game was “just for kids” to satisfy gamers questions. At least, it was aesthetically beautiful and had the best explosions we’ve ever seen in a video game. If you hate wasting your time on awful video games and dislike when greedy companies take your money then you’re going to feel enraged if you join us as we take a look at some awful video games that made shocking amounts of money.

The Gamer here with a quickie. Let’s talk graphics. Bad graphics. There’s definitely something to be said for the old adage “Graphics are not as important as gameplay.” And, while that is definitely true, sometimes the visuals can be so ugly as to make even a great game unplayable. Other times, the bad graphics of a game only serve as a warning shot across the bow, letting you know you’re about to play a real, steaming pile of a game.
