Speedruns are incredible to watch online. Players get the chance to showcase their amazing gaming skills by defeating levels, using hidden secrets, and cutting down on their best times. A lot of video games have moments of luck, random events, or even glitches that can impact how a speedrun works. For many players, this can result in unlucky moments that really delay times and the ability to set records.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas feels like a living and breathing world. This also includes the random occurrence of plane crashes featured in the game. One player saw how bad these crashes could be when a plane came flying out of the sky. In The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, one part of the game includes winning a dog race to unlock special prizes and extras within the game. One player finds it nearly impossible to do this task and pick the lucky dog. Some elements of a game are out of a player’s control and that’s exactly what happened to someone waiting for the Hammer Bros. to find their proper position in a Super Mario Bros. 3 map. The original Mario Party game features a Bom-Omb challenge and one player cannot seem to defeat his opponents to move on from the level. While setting an impressive speedrun score, one player has to listen to a voice chat from a viewer that donated to the channel. The repetitive voice becomes distracting enough to dramatically change the course of the speedrun. A lot of random events occur in the Pokemon Red and Blue games. One speed runner finds himself dealing with random encounters with Weedles. Other unlucky moments include games like Resident Evil 2, Minecraft, and Super Mario Bros. the lost levels.
