بين عام 1975 و 2002 عانت أنجولا من ويلات الحروب الأهلية
وخلال هذا الصراع قتلت الألغام الأرضية الألاف ومازالت تقتل المزيد حتى الأن وتسببت فى جرح الكثيرين فكان لهذه الألغام أثر بالغ فى نفوس السكان إلى درجة أن النساء المصابات جراء هذه الإنفجارات نظمن مسابقة جمال خاصة بهن خلال هذه المسابقة تتنافس النساء اللاتى فقدن إحدى أطرافهن على اللقب كما يحدث فى المسابقات الاخرى
ولكن الفرق الوحيد هو أن الحاصلة على اللقب تحصل على ساق أو ذراع صناعى جديد كجائزة

مسابقة ملكات جمال السجون miss penitentiary
في البرازيل تتم مسابقة جمال غريبة وفريدة من نوعها حيث تقتصر على السيدات اللواتي قضين فترة معينة من عمرهن في السجن والفائزة تحصل على ألف دولار توضع لها فى خزينة السجن ويتم ذلك تحت حراسة مشددة وبعد إنتهاء المسابقة تعود جميع المتسابقات الى زنازينهن مرة أخرى
وتهدف فكرة المسابقة التى قامت على رعايتها منظمات مجتمع مدنى محلية إلى تعزيز الثقة بالنفس للسيدات اللاتى تمت إدانتهن

مسابقة ملكات جمال القرود miss beautiful APe
في يونيو من عام 1972 أقام المذيع “جاري أوينز” مسابقة “ملكة جمال القرود” في مدينة “سنشري سيتي” وكانت تتزامن مع صدور فيلم Conquest of the Planet of the Apes الفيلم الرابع من هذه السلسلة وكان لزاماً على المتسابقات إرتداء أقنعة القردة طوال المسابقة والفائزة كانت “دومينيك جرين” وحصلت على دور في الفيلم التالي للسلسلة
