Stories in video games have really advanced over the years. It’s no longer just about saving the princess at a castle or following mindless action. These stories include some crazy plot twists and moments that fans never saw coming. Savvy players can actually find spoilers to game events hidden within some early moments of the game.
In the game Life is Strange, players attempt to solve a murder case, but early dialogue gives it away almost instantly. In Call of Duty: Black Ops, a twist about your friend in the game is revealed through a number of level titles. Final Fantasy VII features a tragic death that came as a shock, but there was a hint of it very early on in the game to help prepare players. Dead Space features a long adventure in an attempt to rescue someone, but it turns out she was dead the whole time. Borderlands 2 also features the death of a main character and early in the game, it’s pretty clear that his fate was determined. Red Dead Redemption features a terrible death and early in the game, a creepy character in black helps foreshadow this horrible event. The character of Snake in Metal Gear Solid is not actually Snake at all and there are many clues to this early on in the game if players are paying attention. The crazy twist in Shadow of the Colossus can be foreshadowed through just the audio featured in the game. Portal 2 has a number of great twists and one of them involves the personality traits added to computers. Batman: Arkham Knight was promoted around a huge twist, but one line of dialogue gave it away almost instantly.
