Borrowed from the Ascent, this 2.4L boxer 4-cylinder offers up 260 HP and 277 lb-ft of torque in a car that is about 400 pounds lighter over the Ascent. Towing capacity improves to 3,500 pounds and fuel economy also gets a much needed boost over the old H-6 and 2008 Outback XT Limited to 23/30 MPG. Along with the new Subaru Global Platform, the 2020 Outback is the safest, stiffest, and most tech forward Outback the company has ever made. It should continue to be the best-selling model in the Subaru portfolio when it goes on sale in August 2019.
