When you’ve been around for 30 plus years, people know a lot about you and this is the case for Super Mario. The gaming hero has appeared in hundreds of games and helped lead the way for console after console from Nintendo. Now as people explore his long Odyssey, it’s a great time to look back and see the weirdest things we’ve learned about Mario.
Mario has always been known as a plumber, but when he wasn’t getting his shoes dirty in the pipes, he was getting his boots dirty in the Vietnam War. The war game was pretty shocking and something we haven’t seen Mario do since. Mario’s love affair with Princess Peach has gone through some bumps along the way. This includes some time rescuing Pauline, including the same exact time he was supposed to be saving the Princess. Mario is known for his power-ups and killing enemies by jumping on their head. It wasn’t always like this. Mario’s original power-ups included a lot of different options including various weapons. Everyone loves to criticize the Super Mario Bros. movie, but things were a lot worse at the Ice Capades in 1989. Bowser sings, Peach has a weird accent and it’s as cringe-worthy as you could imagine. Mario’s true age was recently revealed and it sent shockwaves through the gaming community. How could Mario actually be THAT old?! Here are 5 weird facts you never knew about Mario!
