The Hidden Ways Creed 2 Pays Tribute To Rocky IV

Creed II is a lot more than just a sequel to the original Creed. It ties into so many Rocky movies of the past and delivers homages to them in multiple ways. No connection may be more prominent than the one to Rocky IV. Essentially a sequel and extension to the story, Adonis has to confront the demons of his father’s past, learn to overcome his legacy, and help defeat the son of the man who killed his father in the boxing ring.

There are many references peppered throughout the movie, including some key outfits, training montages, and moments you may have missed when seeing the movie the first time around. When looking back and watching Rocky 4 again, you may notice how closely the film ties into the new sequel while also expanding the characters and providing extra growth. Many small moments are touched upon including scenes with Sylvester Stallone, Michael B. Jordan, and Dolph Lundgren. Training montages are a key part to any Rocky or Creed movie and Creed II pays homage to Rocky IV in a very unique way that may not be so obvious at first. Adonis chooses to fight Viktor Drago, but the decision is met with a lot of contention from Rocky himself. Many of the outfits are also stylized after the original Rocky IV, blending together a nice homage with some updated styles. Watch to see these moments and how many you spotted while viewing the new Creed movie starring Stallone and Michael B. Jordan!
