Well, you have to kiss a few frogs eh? This is a toad. Just a mess, and not even a well made mess. Buy something else instead. Anything else. Cheers, Jody

[GOOGLE PIXEL WATCH REVIEW]
The years since Google’s smartwatch platform hit the market back in 2014 have been … chaotic. In the face of lackluster demand after several generations of smartwatches, Android Wear would be rebranded to “Wear OS” and undergo a painful parade of reinventions, often hamstrung by underpowered silicon and inconsistencies across its various hardware partners. Samsung got so fed up with Wear OS that it pivoted to its own Tizen software to power its Galaxy Watches for several years, only recently having been wooed back. Pebble, the OG smartwatch maker, got bought by Fitbit – which in turn got scooped up by Google. And in the midst of all this upheaval, Apple just kept counting money, selling millions of Apple Watches across eight generations of slow but steady iteration.
Flash forward to 2022 and the Pixel Watch is the smartwatch Google built to change all that. Like many first-generation products, it’s too expensive; it doesn’t do enough of what it promises; and it has no chance of living up to its hype. But it’s also proof positive that Google actually cares about smartwatches again. I’m Michael Fisher and I’ve spent a month with the Pixel Watch on my wrist: join me for the Google Pixel Watch Review!

It is great to see this retro look for under $100 (during the sale at least). Not much wrong here, apart from the clasp, and nice to see a decent bezel insert and lume for once for the price. And you don’t have to go for Tiffany blue if you are sick of it. Cheers, Jody

FINALLY! After a build up of several years, I get to compare the ‘Official’ Sea-Gull 1963 with the ‘Unnoficial’ Seagull 1963. How can one possibly be worth so much more than the other? Watch on, my friends. Cheers, Jody

[MOTOROLA RAZR 2022 REVIEW]
Motorola. Until Apple came along, no one mattered more in mobile than the company that built the first cellphone – and there was no phone more recognizable than the RAZR. That brand name redefined the first flip phones in 2004; it helped Android conquer the smartphone world in 2011; and it resurrected the flip phone in 2019 with the world’s first mass-market foldable (that also brought back the venerable brand name).
But no amount of retro-futurism would hold off Samsung once the South Korean juggernaut decided it wanted a piece of the action. After a slow start with the Galaxy Z Flip, it went for the kill with the solid Z Flip 3 and excellent Galaxy Z Flip 4, each of which beat the Razr on the spec sheet and on the price list.
For its part, Motorola kept the world waiting nearly two years for a response. And now that the phone is finally here, Motorola’s attitude seems to be: if you can’t resonate … emulate. I’m Michael Fisher and I’ve spent two months with the Motorola Razr 2022, a wide and weird effort to duplicate Samsung’s success – by copying the copycat.
