Test Drive: 2010 Acura TL SH-AWD 6-Speed

With the demise of the NSX, the TL 6-speed soldiers on as the quickest vehicle in the Honda/Acura line-up until the RLX Sport-Hybrid goes on sale. Those of you looking for a hidden gem should pick up a remaining 2014 model before they’re all gone.

QC#35 – Bottle Cap Party Whistle

Bottle caps and aluminum cans make a referee-style party whistle that works surprisingly well.

cutlerylover “Bushcraft Project : Survival Whistle From A Can” (http://youtu.be/cwMgfHJkZJ4)

WARNING: Cutting aluminum cans will give the metal very sharp edges. Sharp edges cut skin. You may want to use gloves to mitigate any risk. This project should not be attempted without adult supervision and adequate training. Use of this video content is at your own risk.

Project History & More Info:

I’ve wanted to make a video with a variation of the common soda can survival whistle that had sides on it, so you didn’t have to use your thumb and finger on the sides to make it work.

The bottle cap sides were a perfect aesthetically pleasing solution!

I love these little whistles because they are extremely loud, attention grabbing, cool to show off, and easily made from common materials.

2014 Subaru Impreza Review, Walkaround, Exhaust, & Test Drive

A new engine and transmission highlight the key changes for the current generation of Subaru’s best-selling model. The all-new Impreza continues to offer the AWD traction some buyers are looking for, but now features class competitive fuel-economy to match. Look for a refreshed model soon to address the lack of premium and tech features in the cabin.

Assassin’s Micro Crossbow

This micro-crossbow carries 3 bolts, fires from any angle, shoots exploding tipped arrow heads, and launches wooden matches over 30 feet away! Who knew popsicle sticks and hair clips could make such a sexy little crossbow?!

WARNING:

The depictions of launching sparklers in this video are for demonstrational purposes only and are not intended to be duplicated. While this little contraption is micro-scale, it can still be dangerous to some degree. Use care and caution when choosing your ammunition, be aware of your surroundings, and never shoot at people or property. There may be risks associated with these projects that require experience, and/or adult supervision. Use of video content is at your own risk.

Project History & More Info:

The guys over at sonicdad.com saw my video on how to make a matchstick shooter from a clothespin (http://youtu.be/vC2BSb9MZYc) and used the inspiration to make an awesome micro-crossbow.

They contacted me asking what I could do with it, and this video depicts not only how to make it, step-by-step, but some of the modifications I made that will;

-Allow for additional crossbow bolts to be carried
-Hold the bolt in place in any position and any angle
-Reinforce the limbs for additional draw weight
-Try something dangerous with it (eg. Light up a flaming “Hunger Games” logo)

I made the hunger games logo with a piece of 3/4″ particle board and a jigsaw. It turned out better than I expected!

They encouraged me to make this video, and even gave permission to give away a copy of the project for it absolutely free. All you need to do is join my mailing list, and you’ll be re-directed to a download link. Enjoy! (http://bit.ly/X-BowTemplate)

This was inspired by a project by sonicdaddotcom; Sonic Micro Preview sneak peak: http://youtu.be/zB_lFIfPTbw

WARNING: The depictions of launching sparklers in this video are for demonstrational and entertainment purposes only and are not intended to be duplicated. There may be risks associated with these projects that require experience, and/or adult supervision. Use of video content is at your own risk.

Project History & More Info:

The guys at www.sonicdad.com approached me about a collaboration and asked me if I could make their micro-crossbow even better.

I took the basic design and added a few features, like a clip for holding the crossbow bolt in place, side quivers for extra ammunition, and some reinforcing strings for added durability.

This crossbow fires matchsticks up to 40 feet away, and can even be fired upside down.

It’s one of my favorite projects to date, and my kids love them as well.
