I gotta be honest: after the flop that was the LG G8, which combined forgettable design with bizarre wizard gestures, I didn’t have high hopes for the company’s next smartphone. And that didn’t really change when I finally got to put it the LG G8X in my hand, here at IFA 2019 in Berlin. It just seemed like a slightly spiffed-up version of the LG G8 I’d already consigned to the dustbin of history. Until, that is … it sprouted a second screen. And then I started thinking maybe LG was on to something. Join me for a quick first look at the company’s alternative to the coming wave of folding phones: the LG G8X with Dual Screen case.
