The Batman: Behind The Scenes Secrets

Gotham City’s Dark Knight is back at his crime fighting ways. Of all the superheroes to make the leap and bound to the big screen, the Caped Crusader has at the most at bats…get it? At bat, bats…ah, you get it. Robert Pattinson is the seventh person in the tenth movie for ‘world’s greatest detective’. That’s a lot of pressure to come up with something unique to do with the character. You can only go so dark before it’s just an audio play in a pitchblack movie theater. First step, let’s skip the depiction of Thomas and Martha Wayne getting shot in Crime Alley. I think we’re all familiar with how Bruce Wayne went from rich kid to vigilante. After Ben Afleck stepped away from the cowl, director Matt Reeves was brought in and wanted something so separate that it wouldn’t even fit in the burgeoning DC Comics shared universe. While we don’t get another slow motion shot of dropping pearls Reeves still set his story early in that vigilante career where he’s not yet an expert at being the Dark Knight or Bruce Wayne. From ‘70s film noir influences to many repeated takes to get just the right expression from an actor there’s a lot that went into making this version of The Batman turns up the gritty and dark once again.
