ينصح الخبراء بحذف البيانات المخزنة على القرص الصلب بجهاز الكمبيوتر، عندما يرغب المستخدم في بيع الجهاز أو إعطائه للآخرين، مؤكدين أن سلة المهملات الموجودة بنظام التشغيل لا تكفي للتخلص بشكل نهائي من البيانات المراد حذفها.
وأوضح المكتب الاتحادي لأمان تقنية المعلومات في مدينة بون الألمانية، عدم جدوى سلة المهملات في التخلص التام من البيانات، لأنه يتم حذف الإشارة إلى الملفات في مجلد المحتويات بالقرص الصلب فقط أثناء إفراغ سلة المحتويات، وبالتالي يمكن استعادة البيانات المحذوفة بكل سهولة عن طريق بعض البرامج الخاصة.
كما يؤكد الخبراء الألمان أن عملية تهيئة القرص الصلب لا تضمن هي الأخرى حذف البيانات بشكل كامل. وللتخلص النهائي من البيانات المخزنة على القرص الصلب ينصح الخبراء الألمان بإجراء عملية الكتابة الفوقية على القرص الصلب أو وسيط التخزين بالكامل مرات عدة بواسطة أرقام وحروف عشوائية، بغض النظر عن نظام التشغيل المثبت على الجهاز.
وهناك بعض البرامج الخاصة التي تقوم بعملية الكتابة الفوقية على القرص الصلب مرات عدة، منها على سبيل المثال البرنامج المجاني Dariks Boot And Nuke. وأوضح الخبراء الألمان أن هناك معايير عدة لعملية الكتابة الفوقية على القرص الصلب.
وبالنسبة للأنواع القديمة من الأقراص الصلبة ينصح المكتب الاتحادي لأمان تقنية المعلومات بإجراء سبع دورات للكتابة الفوقية، حتى يتم حذف البيانات تماماً من القرص الصلب، بحيث يتعذر استعادتها مرة أخرى. ويتوافق ذلك في كثير من البرامج مع الطريقة US DoD 5220.22-M ECE، التي يجب ضبطها. وقد تستغرق الكتابة الفوقية على القرص ساعات عدة، وذلك تبعاً لسعة الذاكرة وعدد دورات الكتابة. ومن المفيد أيضاً أن يقوم المستخدم بحذف البيانات الحساسة من جهاز الكمبيوتر بشكل نهائي إذا لم يعد بحاجة إليها. وللقيام بذلك ينصح خبراء المكتب الاتحادي لأمان تقنية المعلومات باستعمال البرنامج المجاني Erase. وميزة هذا البرنامج أن المستخدم يتمكن من حذف الملف بسرعة من خلال النقر بالزر الأيمن للفأرة على قائمة السياق، ولكن يتعين على المستخدم في هذا البرنامج ضبط طريقة حذف الملفات سابقة الذكر.

On this episode of Roadkill, HOT ROD’s David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan hit the road on a quest to build a car they’ve both dreamed of for years: a ’55 Chevy Bel Air sedan set up like a ’60s Gasser and powered by a Mopar 426 Hemi. The guys drag out a ’73 GMC Suburban that they’d never driven more than around the block (did you expect anything else?), then use it to pick up a bare ’55 Chevy body in California before heading north for the 1,000-mile trip to Lincoln City, Oregon. That’s the home of Jim Meyer Racing, the chassis builder that helps the guys turn the ’55 into a wicked looking hot rod in a single day. There’s no fail in this episode of Roadkill! Well, at least nothing terminal.
