Mercedes CLA secrets laid bare – autocar.co.uk

The Mercedes CLA is the saloon version of the recently-launched A-class. It’ll spawn a hot CLA45 AMG version as well as a Shooting Brake. We take a look at the technical and design highlights of Mercedes’ swoopy four-door.

This is the four-door Mercedes CLA-Class, based on the Mercedes Concept Style Coupe shown at the 2012 Beijing motor show. Most of the design elements from the concept have been carried over to production and it is set to rival the upcoming Audi A1 saloon. Power will come from turbocharged petrol and diesel engines found in the A-Class, as well as a 355bhp range-topping CLA 45 AMG with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine and four-wheel drive.

The Mini JCW GP is the fastest production Mini ever built, according to BMW. They may well be right, but we’ve found what could be the fastest Mini ever, the ZCars Mini Busa.

The Mini JCW GP is the ultimate incarnation of the latest Mini, with 215bhp from its turbocharged 1.6-litre engine launching it to 62mph in 6.2 seconds. But is it the fastest Mini you can buy? Its competition could be a kit car from the North East of England called the ZCars Mini Busa. It features a tubular construction and fibreglass panels resulting in a 550kg kerbweight and a 0-60mph sprint of 3.9 seconds thanks to its screaming 194bhp Suzuki Hayabusa superbike engine.
