Mercedes CLA secrets laid bare – autocar.co.uk

The Mercedes CLA is the saloon version of the recently-launched A-class. It’ll spawn a hot CLA45 AMG version as well as a Shooting Brake. We take a look at the technical and design highlights of Mercedes’ swoopy four-door.

This is the four-door Mercedes CLA-Class, based on the Mercedes Concept Style Coupe shown at the 2012 Beijing motor show. Most of the design elements from the concept have been carried over to production and it is set to rival the upcoming Audi A1 saloon. Power will come from turbocharged petrol and diesel engines found in the A-Class, as well as a 355bhp range-topping CLA 45 AMG with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine and four-wheel drive.

Raptors are high performance desert machines, but we found one that earns it’s owner a living each week banging around on an obscure desert compound. The owner is hard on his equipment and we took this poor bird of prey under our wing for a week to transform it into a more vicious desert predator.
