Bosses have been around as long as we can remember and have become a staple of the video game industry throughout the decades. Almost every game today has bosses in some capacity. These bosses exist so players can test out their skills and maybe even use that awesome new weapon they just found earlier in the dungeon. Some bosses may be easy, some may be optional and some may be completely secret. What’s interesting about secret bosses is they are often more difficult than the bosses you may encounter on the main quest and sometimes they are even tougher than the final boss of the entire game! Developers often do this to test players who believe they have mastered the game or simply to give completionsists something to do once the main quest is complete and add some replay value.

It may seem like a good idea to venture off the main quest sometimes and do your own thing, but it can turn out to be the opposite. You may start collecting items around the world only to accidentally stumble upon a boss. You might also notice a secret path leading to an even more secret boss. No matter how it’s done, there is always a chance you’ll encounter a boss you have never seen before. He’s bigger and stronger than any boss you ever seen making you look miniscule in comparison. The boss you encounter in this area may be a secret, but believe us, once you see him, there are no secret. He just wants you to see the game over screen.
