NINTENDO… TOO STRANGE FOR USA? Nintendo has released their fair share of weird games in their 35 years as a company. Most of the time, games are released worldwide, but occasionally something will be so strange it never makes it to the West. Most of these disturbing titles come from Japan.

This is TheGamer’s list of 10 Nintendo Games Too Weird For American Release.

One of the most common types of Japanese games we never see make it to America is horror games. Often times, these games are considered too disturbing for American children. Games like Clock Tower, Sweet Home and Fatal Frame IV may have been popular in Japan, but Nintendo felt it wouldn’t be appropriate in the US.

You also end up with games in Japan that are just plain weird and may not fit in with the games released in the West. Games like Cho Aniki: Bakuretsu Rantouden, Gokujou Parodius, GiFTPia, and Captain Rainbow were deemed to be way too strange to be released outside Japan. Just a few seconds of gameplay make it obvious they were right for holding it back.

Finally, you have games deemed too dirty for Children in the US. Games likes Duel Love and Doki Doki Majo Shinpan used the DS touch screen to have players do some dirty things.

While these games never saw a release in America, they all have dedicated fans who have found ways to play these games anyway.

In video games, Easter Eggs are typically a fun surprise for gamers. The entire point is to either recognize a facet of pop culture or to reward hardcore gamers for playing the game so thoroughly. Everyone loves discovering Easter Eggs in any video game that they’re playing because, oftentimes, it’s like a secret between the game developers and the gamer. Most Easter Eggs are fairly harmless. They’re a recreation of a popular meme or movie scene. They can be a nod to an older title in the same franchise or just a funny joke that most players will get once they run across it.

Sometimes, however, these jokes may fall flat. What seemed like a good idea to developers at the time may not go over so well with the fans. Either these Easter Eggs are just ill timed, poorly thought out, or just plain ridiculous. Occasionally, these Easter Eggs are just plain weird. Sure, some gamers may find them funny, but others may find them simply irritating. Nevertheless, these cringe worthy Easter Eggs did happen and while some of them are kind of funny, we can’t help but think that the developers could’ve spent their time more efficiently.

After all, it isn’t easy to create a video game so putting in so many hours on what is, essentially, a joke seems somewhat pointless. However, some of these Easter Eggs, no matter how ridiculous, have become somewhat famous in pop culture. Sometimes something is so cringe worthy, it’s hard to look away and it takes on a life of its own as a meme. Here are the top 5 cringiest video game Easter eggs ever.

Did you know you can use a USB keyboard to input text on Switch? Or that Nintendo has tucked a full-fledged internet browser onto the system, just out of sight? And those Joy-Con controllers are much more versatile than they seem at first. Not only can you use them to play Switch games, but you can even connect them to your phone or computer to play games. If you’ve ever binged through a game only to wonder how much time you actually poured into it, the Switch lets you check your play time in any game you’ve played. Not only that, but the Switch can also turn on your TV.

And don’t think you’re locked into games released in your region. You can set up a new eShop account to buy and play games from any region. If you’re in the mood for a new game but don’t want to spend a lot of money, you can see which games are on sale at any time in the eShop. If you frequently find yourself running through your battery’s charge, you might want to get yourself an external battery pack to squeeze out more playtime. If you’re the only one who plays your Switch, you can make it stop asking which user you are each time you start up a new game. And finally, if you manage to lose track of a Joy-Con, the Switch can help you find it.

Not a bad set of features for such a tiny game console.
