As every gamer knows, playing video games can be expensive. From consoles to PCs, there’s the initial start up price of buying a system to play on. On top of that, the prices of games can be ridiculously high. There is nothing more disappointing than paying high prices for a game only to be disappointed by inferior graphics or a weak plot.
If a game is cheap, however, it softens the blow of disappointment. Whether or not a game was enjoyable doesn’t matter as much if you spent less than $30 on a game. The ability to replay a game also factors into whether or not a game was worth it as most games have a short playthrough time with zero replay value whatsoever.
Currently, there are a lot of horror games on the market, but are they all worthwhile? All in all, there’s nothing more disappointing than a game that claims to be terrifying when it merely warrants an eye roll after beating you over the head with constant horror cliches. Horror tropes are often overdone, but if they are done well, that’s another story entirely. For example, zombies plague the horror genre whether it’s a videogames or movies, but if it’s done well, it can open up new possibilities. If a player is sufficiently creeped out during their gameplay and terrified to play with the lights off alone, the game has not gone far enough.
