Corvette 2014 Stingray review by Hasan Kutbi

On this episode of Head 2 Head we jump in the way-back machine. The 1960’s were the defining decade of the modern era. From the Cuban Missile Crisis, to the assassinations of JFK, RFK and MLK, to the hippie counter culture, to a man standing on the moon, few ten-year spans in history have seen as much tumult. Fewer still have seen as many awesome cars. On this episode we look at two of the most important cars from the 1960’s: a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette 427 Tri-Power and a 1968 Porsche 911L. The Corvette is all sound and fury, with a monster motor that still feels quick today and a soundtrack to die for. The 911, by way of contrast, is the more nimble driver-focused sports car solution, with steering feel that modern cars can only dream of. But one of these two is better than the other. Watch to find out which!

This week on a special episode of Ignition, Carlos Lago drives a 1967 Maserati Ghibli, a prime and beautiful example of the Italian grand touring cars from the late 60s. Recognized as one of the most important Maseratis ever produced, this Giorgetto Giugiaro-designed coupe was noteworthy in its day for its styling, which helped it outsell both the Ferrari Daytona and Lamborghini Muria. This pristine example is owned by Motor Trend technical director Frank Markus, who graciously allowed us to find out what it’s like to drive.

One of the most incredible junkyards in the history of junk is Turner’s Auto Wrecking in Fresno, California—and on this episode of Roadkill, Freiburger and Finnegan hit those 100 acres of vintage sheetmetal and go spelunking for gold! After considerable debate, the guys select a 1950 GMC shortbed truck that had been off the road for 26 years and jam to get it running and driving for the trip home to Los Angeles. At least there was a 50-percent victory. Watch as the guys revamp the Jimmy inline six, panic over a wrecked master cylinder, sweat their cajones off for four days, and explore one of the greatest old-car stashes ever!
