بعد سلسلة من الأحداث العالمية، وصل الدور إلى الإمارات ودبي تحديداً، حيث جرى إطلاق Windows 8 رسمياً في الشرق الأوسط أمام حشد غفير.

الحدث جرى في برج خليفة بحضور شخصيات رفيعة ممثلة عن مايكروسوفت، مثل علي فرماوي (رئيس مايكروسوفت الشرق الأوسط وأفريقيا).

وقد تم عرض برامج مثيرة للاهتمام تستفيد من مميزات Windows 8 الجديدة، لكن لعل أكثر ما أثر اهتمامنا كان تطبيق الخطوط الجوية الإماراتية Emirates Airlines ومبادرة التعليم الذكي في الإمارات UAE Smart Learning التي تفتح الطريق أمام التعليم التفاعلي والمبني على الوسائط الغنية والرقمية.

أما الأجهزة التي استخدمت خلال العرض فكانت Acer S7، لابتوب (بالأحرى الترا-بوك) فائق الخفة مزود بشاشة IPS خلابة قياس 11 إنش مع دقة 1920x1080p، محمية بزجاجة Gorilla Glass، واللابتوب – ‘البهلوان’ Lenovo Yoga بشاشته التي تستدير 360 درجة ليتحول من لابتوب إلى جهاز لوحي ‘تابلت’ لمسية.
