Compared to the Scion & VW, the E30 carried a heftier price tag for it’s time but represented the definition of a fun, affordable sports car. This week on The J-Turn, Jessi Lang heads to Buttonwillow Raceway Park to prepare for her upcoming Chump Race at Daytona, where she’ll face 119 other competitors. With the help of Motor Trend contributor and race car driver, Randy Pobst, and Motor Trend’s vehicle coordinator, Scott Mortara, Jessi get schooled on how to handle traffic on the track and learns the intricacies of passing and being passed.

After discussing the envelope of awareness, the classic clean pass, the draft pass, and the late apex pass, the three hit the track in separate cars to simulate a real race. Find out whether the 2013 Subaru WRX STI SE, the 2013 Subaru BRZ, or the 2013 Mini Cooper S Coupe make it out of the race in one piece.

Every year about this time, we get really excited because the Hubble Space Telescope was launched on April 24th, 1990 and we’re getting ready to mark the 23rd anniversary of the launch.
