On Day 2 of Diesel Power Challenge 2013, the 9 reader-selected trucks are tasked with completing a CDL-stlye obstacle course in the shortest amount of time, while pulling a 10,000-pound trailer. The same trailer is then used in a 1/8-mile drag race to show which truck has the most useable power under extreme conditions.

Monster Mike Schultz – Adaptive Moto X and Snocross Athlete! – The Downshift Ep. 62

On this episode of The Downshift, we catch up with Monster Mike Schultz. During a snocross event in 2008, Mike had a terrible accident and was forced to have his leg amputated. He returned to action 7 months after his accident with a prosthetic leg dubbed the Moto Knee which he designed and won an X Games Silver Medal in Adaptive Moto X. In the next few years he would go on to win 4 X Games Gold Medals and has started his own company Biodapt which he helps other like him get back to what they love.

The field of extrasolar planets has exploded over the last couple decades, providing an entirely new suite of information on planetary systems in general and perspective on our own solar system in particular. One of the most exciting advances came when astronomers were at last able to see a few of these planets directly. Even those who maintain “I’ll believe it when I see it” now have visual proof that our solar system is not alone in the universe. However, science advances rapidly, and the discoveries announced only a few years ago are already ripe for an update. Revisiting three direct detections provides confirmation, archival data, and some spirited scientific discussion.

“Hubble’s Universe” is a recurring broadcast from HubbleSite, online home of the Hubble Space Telescope. Astrophysicist Frank Summers takes viewers on an in-depth tour of the latest Hubble discoveries.

The Jaguar F-Type V8 S is hardly a slouch, but the Jaguar Project 7 takes it to another level. With the supercharged 542bhp V8 from the larger XKR-S, 10mm lower suspension and D-Type inspired styling it will light up its rear tyres as soon as you breathe on the throttle exiting a second-gear hairpin. Designed in just four months to thrill the crowds at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed, its exhaust note has to be heard to be believed.
