10 Facts About Super Mario Too Inappropriate For Kids

Video Game developers have tough jobs. They need to be able to make games and ensure that each one feel unique and offers new ways to play. It seems that sometimes some of the mechanics added can actually make the game worse! SimCity tried adding multiplayer to a game that has never needed it and would only allow gamers to play if they were connected to the internet. Crash Bandicoot Wrath of Cortex was the first Crash game made without the original developers, and it seemed uninspired. Assassin’s Creed Unity was ripe with technical errors, but had so many mechanics that made the game boring. NIOH attempted to be a samurai Dark Souls, but made the game far too complex. The fourth game in the Fallout series added extra mechanics but in the wrong places in the form of sub par base building. No Man’s Sky promised the universe but was unable to stay interesting. Can you imagine a game that can teach itself time travel? Look no further than Dwarf Fortress! Metal Gear Solid V did a lot of new things, many of which were great, but some rubbed us the wrong way including trying to sell you actual insurance. Final Fantasy XV was a game 11 years in the making, and when it finally released many gamers were disappointed by it’s seemingly empty open world with lots of busy work. Donkey Kong 64 is considered a classic, but when playing it again today, we realized it was a busy mess.

For years, video game developers have done their best to always put out the most interesting, game-changing (no pun intended) products that people will talk about for years to come. Unfortunately sometimes even the best ideas need to be cut to ensure the game can come out on time.
Banjo-Kazooie, the beloved 3D platformer for the N64, used to have a way to exchange items between different game cartridges!
Bioshock Infinite shared gameplay many times in it’s 5 year development cycle, but it seemed like every time we saw the game it looked different and some ideas never made it to the final game.
The original Pokemon game at one time allowed you to fight Professor Oak, but at the last minute the battle was cut.
With the success of Super Mario Bros, Nintendo decided to make two different sequels, one for Japan and one for the rest of the world.
Microsoft’s massive franchise, Halo, was almost a real time strategy game and was only being looked at as a game being releasing on PC and MAC.
The Super Smash Brothers series has had a wide variety of fighters from across the gaming world, but not every character gets to make a return in the sequels.
The new Star Wars Battlefront was forced to cut it’s single-player story in an effort to release the game in time for film, The Force Awakens.
The writers of Destiny were shut down after the bosses at Bungie disliked their story, but only had a year left to write a new one.
The first 3D Mario game was going to have multiplayer where the second player could be Luigi.
Overwatch was the result of developer Blizzard’s failure to create a new MMO they had been working on for seven years.
