The Combat Sub is a watch which has been on my radar for a while now. So, big thanks to Ashley for the loan of his, erm, funky orange and black version. A lot to like a $399USd, and if you can snag one for less, then even more to like. There are a few fairly obvious areas where a few dollars have been trimmed off the build cost, but nothing that detracts form the good looks and the way it wears. Cheers, Jody

Another Jomashop review today, almost ready for a new batch before Christmas! Not my favourite dive watch this one. If you are looking for a dressy desk diver then I can see the appeal, but it is just too blingy for me. And there are a few flies in the ointment which I wouldn’t let a $300 watch off with, so why should the Tissot get a pass? Cheers, Jody

As I say in the video, I don’t think you can go too far wrong with a Phoibos if you are looking for a decent budget watch. And I should know, I have reviewed heaps of them. Some, like the Sentinel and Great Wall were well made, but a bit odd. And even the original steel Eagle Ray left me cold. Enter the bronze version with a Sellita SW200 for only $60 more than the original. That has to be a bit of a deal, right? Just don’t forget to turn the bezel once a week! Cheers, Jody

Well, this one sure ain’t a Rolex Submariner homage! Odd name, odd watch, but I like it overall. $399 is pretty decent value for any fresh-to-market watch with a SW200 in the back of it, so no complaints there. It isn’t going to be for everyone, and I can’t help but feel the dial isn’t quite as it should be, but hey, the case back is so pretty, you could just flip it around…. Cheers, Jody

So, I bought a ‘mini grail’, a watch that I said I wanted to pick up this year……. and I totally rejected it. Then I did exactly the wrong thing by letting it sit in my watch box, unworn and unloved, for over 8 months before making this video and finally trying to move it on. Not good. Lesson learned.
