Behind the Webb: The X Factor (Episode 24)

The James Webb Space Telescope is being tested at a number of facilities, including some operated by NASA. One of these locations is in Huntsville, Alabama, at the Marshall Space Flight Center. Engineers are repurposing a test chamber originally built to test another one of NASA’s Great Observatories, the Chandra X-ray Observatory. 15 years ago, Chandra was launched into space and continues to be a vital contributor to our understanding of the universe. “Behind the Webb” host Mary Estacion takes us to Marshall to check out how Webb and Chandra share a common bond.

On Day 2 of Diesel Power Challenge 2014, the 10 reader-selected truck contenders kick off with an event designed to assess each driver’s skill. The spotlight shifts from the truck’s go-fast prowess to the driver’s ability to navigate a CDL-style obstacle while maneuvering with a 10,000-pound tractor-carrying trailer in tow. The driver to complete the course in the shortest time will inch closer to this year’s challenge title.

Diesel Power Challenge 2014 is a weeklong torture test that features 5 events, 10 trucks, 8,000hp, and nearly 15,000 lb-ft of torque. Devon Faraci over at Badass Digest has stated with a decent amount of certainty that the inciting action of the film is Luke’s lightsaber (and hand) crashing into a desert planet (not Tatooine!), and the Daisy Ridley and John Boyega find it and set out to return the lightsaber to its rightful Jedi owner.

So, does this sound like a good movie premise to you? Does it irk you as much as it does Clint the egregious violations of the laws of physics that would be involved in a hand accomplishing interstellar travel? Do you think this rumor will turn out to be true at all? Or is it a J.J. Abrams misdirect?
