The Porsche Design Mate 9 isn’t meant to sell in big volumes: it’s meant to show the Western world that Huawei deserves to be taken seriously as a high-end smartphone manufacturer. I spent a week living with the $1500 Porsche Design Mate 9, and it is indeed, as Ferris Bueller might say, “so choice.” But it also bears a few software handicaps to go with its sexy hardware. MrMobile’s Porsche Design Mate 9 coverage was produced following seven days with a Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design edition on loan from Huawei. It was tested on T-Mobile US in the Greater Boston and New York City regions and alternately paired to a Vector Luna smartwatch and a Star Trek Bluetooth Combadge during the test period.
