Waluigi is the dark horse of the Mario franchise. While villains like Bowser and Wario typically get all of the glory, Waluigi is not far behind, lurking in a corner and planning his next great evil strategy. The sworn enemy of Luigi, there are a lot of things fans may not know about him. Learn about these facts and get to see a whole different side of Waluigi.

Many players assume that Waluigi was named that because it was a mix of Wario and Luigi. It is actually a Japanese translation of two words combined to form his name. Waluigi may be a supporting character in the Mario franchise, but there are many dedicated fans that have made their own games featuring the villain. Waluigi is not only the arch-nemesis of Luigi, but they share the same exact birthday and age. Waluigi wasn’t created for the need to add another villain to the Mario franchise. He was made as an evil counterpart to Wario so that the two could dominate in double tennis matches. In one of the Mario Party games, Waluigi actually owns his own island, but the whole game board may have been stolen from Luigi in the first place. The symbol on Waluigi’s hat may look like an upside “L”, but there’s a popular theory that it’s actually a letter from the Greek alphabet. Waluigi was never really the main villain in any game until he showcased his ultimate dance moves in Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix. Nintendo may own the rights to Mario, but the team behind him didn’t actually create him. Waluigi’s best powers aren’t from any flower plants or other power-ups, it’s actually his legs that give him so much power. Waluigi isn’t all evil. He has a big romantic side and feelings for Princess Daisy. Watch to see all 10 weird facts about Waluigi!

10 Biggest FAILS Nintendo Wants You To Forget

Nintendo has had an amazing list of successes over the years, but they’ve also had their fair share of failures. While the Nintendo 64, Switch, and series of Mario games were all hits, there were a few blunders along the way. Before the Nintendo 64 was released to the masses, the console was being developed with Sony, but a battle over discs led to the partnership being canceled. Being a huge Nintendo fan should come with some perks, but the My Nintendo Rewards program is nothing special for fans.

Nintendo has developed some classic games and some of the earlier ones were made thanks to their development company known as Rare. In an odd move, Nintendo sold Rare and lost out on several future gaming franchises. Nintendo has been very protective over characters like Link and Mario, but the company actually loaned them to Phillips for the release of two CD-I games. Long before VR headsets were a thing, Nintendo tried their hand at it with the Virtual Boy, a failure upon arrival. The Wii U had some great features and titles, but the whole launch of the console was a massive failure and kept many gamers away from even considering the console. When the Wii came out, fans couldn’t get enough of the interactive controls. It then became too much when a bunch of pointless add-ons were released as controller extensions. The Nintendo 64 was a big hit and Nintendo tried to expand upon it with the release of the N64DD, but the project was a huge failure all around. Another controller Nintendo failed with was the gimmicky Power Glove released for the original NES. While the PS3 and Xbox 360 thrived with online gaming, the Wii felt like a console of the past with its poor online options. Watch and see the 10 biggest fails Nintendo wants you to forget!
