Colbert Taking Over for Letterman! – CineFix Now

CBS announced this morning that Stephen Colbert would be taking over for Dave Letterman on the Late Show next year. Cue the water cooler debates! Subscribe: http://goo.gl/9AGRm

Letterman only announced his retirement a week ago, so there wasn’t a lot of time to engage in “who will replace him?” speculation. Cue the speculation on what will happen to Stephen Colbert’s faux pundit persona now that he’s hitting the more conventional late night stage.

What do you think of CBS’s choice? Did you have someone else you wanted to see host the Late Show? Are you a fan of the Colbert Report, and how do you feel about Stephen taking his talents elsewhere? Any speculation on who will take the soon-to-be vacant slot at 11:30 on Comedy Central?

Wish I was Here Trailer Review – CineFix Now

Wish I was Here, the feature film Zach Braff funded via Kickstarter to the tune of $3 million, has released a trailer. We weigh in on its artistic, and financial, merits. Subscribe: http://goo.gl/9AGRm

The trailer makes the movie look decent, in a very Zach Braff, Garden State-y sort of way. But the real crux of the issue is the ethics of crowdfunding, now that known names like Braff have gotten in on the game. The film premiered at Sundance this year, and will be released to the general public on July 18th.

Are you going to see Wish I Was Here? What do you think of the whole Zach Braff/Kickstarter/celebrity crowdfunding thing? Did you contribute to this campaign, or to another high-profile project like the Veronica Mars movie, or the newest Spike Lee joint? Or would you prefer to put your backer-money elsewhere?

THE FUTURE OF JAMES BOND! – CineFix Now

Chiwetel Ejiofor is reportedly director Sam Mendes top pick to play the villain in the next Bond film. What do we think? In a word: Awesome. Subscribe: http://goo.gl/9AGRm

If you caught Ejiofor’s performance as the “The Operative” in Serenity, you can probably already imagine him delivering an equally classy-yet-chilling performance in a Bond movie.

Details are slim at this point – no contract has been signed. But even the possibility has gotten us excited about the next movie, (Bond 24, for those of you who are counting), whether it might feature bond ubervillain Ernst Stavro Blofield, and the series’ experiment with continuity. Clint breaks it all down for you. (Warning: Clint is a bit of a James Bond… enthusiast.)

What do you think of the possible return of Ernst Stavro Blofield? What do you think of Chiwetel Ejiofor taking on the role? What’s your favorite Bond film thus far? Favorite Bond Villain or Bond Girl? Any speculation of your own you’d like to share with the rest of us?
