Gotham Review! – CineFix Now

Gotham, the much-anticipated Batman universe TV show, premieres on Fox this coming Monday. So, does the pilot live up to our hopes? Subscribe: http://goo.gl/9AGRm
We took at look at the Gotham pilot a bit in advance, and here’s what we came away with as far as the pilot, and what we can see happening in the show going forward.

Gotham premieres Monday, September 22 at 8:00 pm on Fox.

The show is already notable for scoring a lucrative early streaming deal with Netflix, and speculation about how dependent on the Batman mythology the show may become, as the cast includes a young Bruce Wayne, Selena Kyle (Catwoman) and, apparently, Poison Ivy.

What do you think of Gotham? If you’ve seen the pilot, has it earned your loyalty for the coming TV season? What other shows are you looking forward to this fall? Where do you hope the Gotham story will go in its first season?

Supergirl Coming… to CBS?!? – CineFix Now

News broke this morning that the previously speculated-upon Supergirl TV show has been ordered. A full series commitment in fact. So, if all goes well, look for Supergirl next fall on… CBS?!? Subscribe: http://goo.gl/9AGRm
The series commitment for Supergirl is a slight surprise, though given Greg Berlanti’s success with Arrow and confidence in the upcoming Flash spinoff, the large order is less a surprise than the network that placed it: CBS, home of CSI, NCIS and other people solving crimes for the entertainment for an older demographic.

Clerks. – What to Watch Before You Die

“This job would be great, if it wasn’t for the f*&king customers…” This pretty much sums up the worldview encapsulated in Clerks, Kevin Smith’s iconic first film. Subscribe – http://goo.gl/9AGRm

Clerks was produced on a shoestring budget by a then-very-young Kevin Smith, a film school dropout on the verge of defining his own slacker-indie genre. Highly autobiographical, and a true labor of love, Clerks is the quintessential Kevin Smith movie. And while Chasing Amy, Dogma, and Mallrats had bigger budgets and more scope, Clerks was the movie that started it all.
