Caterham 620R slays Volkswagen Golf GTI – Caterham’s fastest ever road car tested

The Caterham 620R is one of the world’s most extreme lightweight sports cars ever built. Steve Sutcliffe puts it to the test.

SUBSCRIBE to Autocar: http://youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=autocar

The Caterham 620R packs wide-track front suspension, a supercharged 2.0-litre Ford Duratec motor producing 311bhp and 219lb ft driving the back wheels through a straight-cut, sequential six-speed gearbox and limited-slip differential. It is a few ancillaries away from being a race car, and not much this side of a hypercar such as the Bugatti Veyron could keep pace with it. It is extreme in a way only drivers of a BAC Mono or Ariel Atom could understand. The fastest Caterham road car ever is also one of the most intoxicating.

Drag race: Porsche 911 Turbo S vs McLaren 12C – 0-60mph sprint

Is the Porsche 911 Turbo S quicker than a McLaren 12C from 0-60mph? We put them head-to-head in a drag race.

SUBSCRIBE to Autocar: http://youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=autocar

Porsche is famously conservative with its 0-62mph sprint times, so on the launch of the new Porsche 911 Turbo S we decided to find out for ourselves just how fast the car is in real world conditions – with the help of a stop watch and the mighty McLaren MP4-12C supercar to add some perspective. Can it eclipse Porsche’s claim of 3.1sec from 0-62mph?

New Porsche 911 Turbo S drive review

The 552bhp Porsche 911 Turbo S is supremely fast, but does that make it a brilliant supercar? Steve Sutcliffe finds out.

SUBSCRIBE to Autocar: http://youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=autocar

We’ve driven the long-awaited 2013 Porsche 911 Turbo, the most powerful version of the 991 so far, with 552bhp and four-wheel drive. This is a crushingly fast supercar, hitting 60mph in less than 3 seconds in a drag race, and all the driver has to do is mash the throttle and hold on. What’s really impressive is that it can do it all day long, and keep you comfortable at the same time.

Can a supercar beat a superbike? Can an Audi A1 outrun a Nissan GT-R on a wet circuit? Can a Porsche 911 slay a Corvette on the drag strip? Autocar pitches the giants of the performance car world against each other to deliver the all-important verdict.

New Toyota GT86 TURBO vs McLaren MP4-12C

The Toyota GT86 has beautiful handling, but Steve Sutcliffe thinks it needs some more poke. Luckily Fensport has built a turbo version…

SUBSCRIBE to Autocar: http://youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=autocar

We’re big fans of the Toyota GT86, but always wondered what it would be like with more power and stickier tyres. About 250bhp and 250lb ft of torque should do it, so we sent Steve Sutcliffe to compare the Fensport GT86 Turbo with the standard coupe. When Fensport then gave us the keys to their mind-blowing 335bhp GT86 racer, we decided to see just how hard a McLaren 12C would need to be driven to keep up with the humble Toyota.

Ferrari 458 Speciale – the most extreme 458 yet – official teaser video

This is the first official teaser video revealing the Ferrari 458 Speciale, the most extreme Ferrari 458 Italia yet.

SUBSCRIBE to Autocar: http://youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=autocar

The Ferrari 458 Speciale is an evolution of the Ferrari 458 Italia. Its naturally-aspirated V8 is now the most powerful ever fitted in a road-going Ferrari, with 597bhp — a 27bhp hike. This cuts the 0-62mph drag strip time to 3.0 seconds dead. Amazingly the 458 Speciale is also quicker around Ferrari’s Fiorano test track than an Enzo supercar. Making its debut at the 2013 Frankfurt motor show, it’s fitted with active aerodynamics, with moving surfaces to balance grip with reduced drag.

Supersaloon showdown: Jaguar XFR-S vs Mercedes E63 AMG

Can the Jaguar XFR-S outgun the Mercedes E63 AMG? Steve Sutcliffe referees the battle of the ultimate supersaloons.

SUBSCRIBE to Autocar: http://youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=autocar

Having already placed the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG ahead of the F10 BMW M5 in the battle of the supersaloons, here we pitch the latest entrant against the mighty Merc. That car is the Jaguar XFR-S, the fastest saloon Jaguar has ever built. It costs nearly £15,000 more than the standard XFR, but it packs 542bhp from its supercharged 5.0-litre V8 — and another 39bhp. But the question is: can it outgun the sublime 549bhp E63?

Seat Leon SC review by www.autocar.co.uk

We give our in-depth review of the SEAT Leon SC. Should you still be considering that Volkswagen Golf or Ford Focus?

SUBSCRIBE to Autocar: http://youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=autocar

The SEAT Leon SC is a rakish three-door hatchback, which is winning fans thanks to its modern looks, fun handling and choice of five competitive engines. Darren Moss tested the FR version, which is likely to appeal to a young audience thanks to a subtle body kit and alloy wheels. Its 1.2-litre TSI engine is capable of 57.6mpg, but gets it to 62mph in 10.2 seconds, proving the Leon SC can be fun and frugal.
