Star Wars: Squadrons’ single-player campaign reviewed on PC by Tom Marks, also available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Squadrons is also available in VR on PC and with PSVR, and an Oculus Quest with a link cable was used for this review.

Squadrons doesn’t end up doing anything too memorable with its charming characters or interesting rival squadron setup, but this campaign still tells an entertaining story and its flight controls hit a sweet spot between accessibility and nuance – all made even better by VR and HOTAS support.

Let’s run down the biggest news stories! The remastered PlayStation 5 version of Marvel’s Spider-Man gave Peter Parker a brand new face, which fans aren’t quite happy about. In a different Marvel timeline, the MCU’s Kamala Khan has been cast for the upcoming Disney+ Ms. Marvel series. PlayStation Plus games for October have been announced, George R.R. Martin revealed his least favorite scene in HBO’s Game of Thrones. CD Projekt Red is the center of another round of controversy surrounding developers crunching to finish Cyberpunk 2077, Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies mode has been reveal, because that game didn’t have enough words in its title, and a new Super Smash Bros Ultimate fighter is being revealed later this week.

It’s been revealed that CD Projekt Red is requiring members of the Cyberpunk 2077 development team to work overtime to meet the game’s launch. This is in spite of public comments CDPR has made regarding the use of ‘crunch’ to finish a game’s development. CDPR has made a statement regarding this issue, but the problem still remains: should mandatory overtime—crunch time—be a viable option to finish a game? Or should a game be delayed to accommodate the extra hours needed?
