في أول ظهور له بعد أزمته الصحية الأخيرة، حضر النجم المصري يوسف شعبان حفل افتتاح مهرجان المركز الكاثوليكي للسينما،والذي تم تكريمه خلاله على مشواره الفني.

وظهرت علامات المرض واضحة عليه، لكنه طمأن الجميع إلى أن معنوياته مرتفعة.
يذكر أن شعبان، عانى مؤخراً من أزمة صحية نقل على أثرها لغرفة العناية المركزة،
وكشف بعد خروجه من المستشفى أنه يعاني من مشاكل في الكلى، بالإضافة إلى وجود ماء على الرئة. يوسف شعبان (16 يوليو 1931)، ممثل مصري.
كان نقيباً للممثلين لدورتين متتاليتين ابتداء من عام 1997 إلى 2003.
ولد في حي شبرا ووالده مصمم إعلانات مشهور في شركة (إيجبشان جازيت).

بسبب تفوقه في مادة الرسم قرر الانتساب في كلية الفنون الجميلة ولكن عائلته رفضت بشدة وخيرته بين كلية البوليس (ليلتحق بأبناء أخواله) أو الكلية الحربية (ليلتحق بأبناء أعمامه) أو كلية الحقوق.
ونتيجة للضغط الشديد عليه قرر الانتساب في الكلية الحربية ولكن في اختبار الهيئة أسقط نفسه فرفضوا انضمامه ولكن عائلته علمت بما دبره فأجبرته على الانضمام لكلية الحقوق في جامعة عين شمس.

وهناك تعرف على أصدقاء عمره الفنان الراحل كرم مطاوع والممثل سعيد عبد الغني والكاتب إبراهيم نافع.
ثم سحب أوراقه من كلية الحقوق وهو في السنة الثالثة. والتحق بالمعهد العالي للفنون المسرحية
أثناء تصوير مسلسل (الحب الكبير) سنة 1963 قرر الاعتراف علنًا لكل الموجودين

بزواجه من الفنانة ليلى طاهر الذي استمر أربع سنوات فقط وحدث خلالها الطلاق ثلاث مرات مما أدى إلى الانفصال النهائي بينما وقد ظل الحب والاحترام تسود العلاقة بينهما.
وتقول ليلى طاهر التى كانت تزوجت من قبل ثلاثة مرات : تقابلت مع يوسف شعبان في مسرحية “أرض النفاق” وعلى المسرح بدأت الحكاية حيث لا استطيع الاقتراب أو حتى التلميح
خصوصا أن الجميع كان يعرف رفضي المعلن للزواج مرة رابعة ولا أحد يعرف شيئاً بأمر دقات القلب التي دقت بعنف منذ أن شاهدت يوسف وأبت أن تتوقف,
أيضا كنت أخشى الشائعات ثم إننى لم أكن متأكدة بعد من أن يوسف هو الرجل الذي ابحث عنه رغم دقات القلب التي كانت تؤكد أنه كذلك, ولكن يوسف في الحقيقة كان أكثر جرأة فهو يعرف أن المبادرة
يجب أن تأتي من الرجل و أن تكون مبادرة حذرة خصوصا بعد أن سمع بنفسه رفضي المعلن لفكرة الزواج, ولأنه من النوع الذي لا يقبل الفشل فقد استخدم كل الأسلحة ونصب شباك الحب حتى قبلت الزواج منه دون تردد.
وللأسف فإن يوسف بعد شهور قليلة فقط من الزواج تعرف على شلة من الأصدقاء لا يحلو لهم السهر إلا بعد منتصف الليل, وبدأ يتغيب عن المنزل كثيراً يذهب نهاراً إلى الأستوديو وليلاً إلى شلته وأهمل في حق منزله رغم أنني كنت اتفانى في خدمته لدرجة أنني أرسلت بوحيدي أحمد ليعيش مع أمي من أجله حيث احببته بكل جوارحي
