With Ubuntu for phones Canonical is making an attempt to get into the smartphone space. Ubuntu for Phone borrows drivers from Android but is very much an all new OS with some very innovative additions including a heavily gesture based operating system and a unique UI setup. Ubuntu for Phone will be available in a preview build for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus soon and will be shipping in brand new phones late 2013 or early 2014.
