The Internet! has been abuzz with the news that Jon Bernthal has joined the cast of Netflix’s totally awesome Daredevil show. Daredevil has been doing a great job with Daredevil, with the R-Rated violence to the darkness of the Hell’s Kitchen setting, so we have high hopes for the show putting Frank Castle to good use in the second season.

But getting the scene put to film was an enormous challenge for everyone involved. From intense military training for the cast, to intensive attention to detail from the costume and art departments, re-creating this seminal historical moment was a mission for hundreds of filmmaking pros.

We’ll take you through the numerous decisions Spielberg and his team made in their quest to do justice to the storming of Omaha Beach for audiences – and veterans alike.
