I try to be as fair as possible with my reviews, including occasionally sending pieces back if I don’t feel that the video will do anyone any favours. This is certainly not a bad watch, but I am just not sure there is enough here for me to get excited by it, and that tends to be reflected in the review. JG clearly has some big ambitions for Varon Chiri and he seems like a good man, so I hope he is able to fulfil them. Cheers, Jody

Today’s smartwatches are mostly lightweight plastic or glass lumps, usually strapped to the wrist with rubber or textile. They’re incredibly useful for on-the-go email slingers; they’re great fitness tools for people who prioritize their health … but a decade or so after they hit the mainstream, most smartwatches are (I think) fairly forgettable.
Well, Garmin just loaned me a sample of the least-forgettable smartwatch I’ve ever worn. To test it, I flew it five time zones away to trial its Jet Lag Advisor; hiked at the highest elevation I’ve ever been to test its altimeter; and, well, just hung out by the water to see how well its nautical design blended with the maritime setting that inspired it. Kickstarter is on a bit of run before the inevitable Christmas slowdown this year. This is a pretty, colourful, and reasonably priced skin diver from a new Italian brand……. with a poor choice of clasp. Fingers crossed they sort it out for production units. Cheers, Jody
