( كارل لاندشتاينر ) هو مكتشف فصائل الدم فى عام 1901 ولاحقاً صنف أنواع الدم إلي”A,B,O”.
A-B-O ليست هي فئات الدم الوحيدة فى العالم بل يوجد 33 تصنيف للدم معترف به من قبل الجمعية العالمية لنقل الدم
تصنيف فصائل الدم ليس خاصاً بالبشر وحدهم فعلى سبيل المثال يوجد للكلاب أكثر من إثنى عشر تصنيفا للدم خاص بها
قبل اكتشاف تصنيف فصائل الدم قامَ الأطباء بتجارب لنقل الدم بين البشر والحيوانات لكن هذه التجارب لم يكتب لها النجاح
يستطيع قلبك أن يضخ 9.500 لتر من الدم يومياً بالإضافة إلى قدرة عضلة القلب على ضخ الدم لارتفاع 10 أمتار
تصل نسبة وزن الدم 8% من وزن جسم الإنسان
الرئيس صدام حسين كان لدية مصحفاً مكتوباً بدمه فقد كان يتبرع كل عام بـ 13 لتر من دمه ليكمل الكتاب
