Not all animated movies make it to the big screen. Typically at a film studio, there are many concepts that are being developed at the same time and only the biggest and baddest make it (no, we’re not just talking about Shrek.) Today, we’ll be looking at fifteen Disney films that were in production, but who never got their happily ever after. At number 0ne we have the Pinocchio live action film that got shut down. Apparently Disney couldn’t get it together to finally turn that puppet into a real boy. Number two is a film called Fraidy Cat about a feline who has lost three of his nine lives and isn’t looking to lose any more. At number three we looked at the flick Wild Life – a film based off of My Fair Lady, but instead of Audrey Hepburn at the helm it’s an elephant who wants to make it big in show business. Number four was a movie called The Emperor and the Nightingale which was adapted from the Hans Christian Anderson story about an emperor that gives up his beloved bird for a mechanical one. Next up at number five we have The King of Elves, a story about an old man who somehow ends up becoming the protector of a mythical race. Number six is Chanticleer, a tale about a cocky rooster who believes his crow is what makes the sun rise. Number seven is Mort, an almost Halloween classic about a boy who does an apprenticeship for Death but screws everything up. Number eight is Newt, a TAIL of two blue-footed newts who despise each other but it’s up to them to save their dying race. Number nine is Gigantic, a film that would’ve been HUGE (no pun intended, but also pun very much intended) about Jack (the one with the beanstalk) who forms an unlikely friendship with a giantess. Number ten is Toot’s and the Upside-Down House, a beautiful story about a girl who discovers an upside-down world that is thankfully nothing like the one in Stranger Things. The Bremen Town Musicians is our eleventh pick, and it’s the story of a bunch of farm animals who escape their dull lives to make it as – you guessed it – musicians. At number twelve, we have Hootsie the Owl, a misfit bird who sleeps soundly during the night and is awake during the day. The lucky number thirteen is Which Witch, a film that would’ve starred a magician who goes looking for love and instead of using Tinder, hosts a contest to find the girl. Last, but not least, we have Louis the Bear, Pooh Bear’s competition. Join us as we mourn the Halloween costumes that could have been and the toys that didn’t even get a story.
