Alfred Hitchcock had to finance the production of ‘Psycho’ himself, as Paramount didn’t want to pony up for a movie that killed off a leading lady so soon in the movie (SPOILER!) Along the way from pulp paperback fiction adaptation to film classic, there were a lot of decisions, creative and practical, to be made along the way.
